It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Michael Fraser Giles on 6th December 2025.
Michael was a devoted father to Andrew, Carrie, Tracy, and Ashley, and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Paula.
Born on 4th June 1936 in Ripley, Michael’s lifelong connection to the club began in 1948, following in the footsteps of his father, Charles Giles. He started as a scorer, later became a player, and ultimately served as Chairman, President, Life Member, and Trustee.
A qualified coach and umpire, Michael also played a key role in establishing the West Surrey Colts League.
The Giles family has a deep history in Ripley with Michael and Paula seen regularly at the club on weekends, with Paula often doing the teas, while their children played on the village green.
On behalf of the entire community, we extend our deepest condolences to Michael’s family. His friendship, leadership, and love for the game will never be forgotten. He leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting impact that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The funeral will take place on Thursday 8th January 2026 at 11am at St Mary Magdalen Church, Ripley, with the wake held afterwards at Ripley Cricket Club.
