2024 is a big year for Ripley CC as we celebrate our 275th anniversary.

Over the past 12 months RCC committee and other volunteers have been working hard to arrange a number of events to mark an important year in the Club’s history.

The main event will be the RCC275 Dinner Dance held on 28th September at the Guildford Masonic Lodge, GU2 4DR.
A three course meal and music will be provided for £45 per head and with limited capacity we recommend booking early with full payment to secure your place.

Full payment can be made over the bar or via bank transfer to Seamus Gallagher, stating your name.

Tom Clover has agreed to run the Junior section cricket week which will give the youngsters and opportunity to hone their skills over the course of 1, 2 or 3 days. Likely to be the end of July but dates to be confirmed closer to the time.

Bearsted Cricket Club were also formed in 1749 and are celebrating their 275th anniversary and in a repeat of the 250th anniversary fixture, Ripley CC will travel to Kent on Sunday 4th August for a friendly fixture. Tom Clover is organising a coach for players and supporters so please get in touch with Tom for more details.

President’s Day will be held on Sunday 25th August and will be combined this year with the Ashley Giles Celebrity XI which promises to be a fun family day out at the Club.
Ashley is probably one of Ripley’s most famous sons who went on to play for Warwickshire and England, earning the nickname the King of Spain and was named as one of five cricketers of the year by Wisden during England’s famous Ashes winning year in 2005.

The Junior hard ball 6 a side Ron Dunn Trophy will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th August.
Ron Dunn was a good Ripley Clubman and upon his death, the Dunn family dedicated the trophy in his name. Mrs Dunn was in regular attendance and presented the cup, but since her passing, their son Ian Dunn comes and enjoys the festivities on the day.

Seamus has also arranged for an ornamental cricket bat which will be displayed in the bar area and finally our Chairman, Richard Zapp, has arranged for some commemorative silk ties and player caps which will be available for purchase via the bar.

We hope our members will enjoy some or all of these special events during the 2024 season.
