Chessington 11th May 2019

The 3s made the trip away to Chessington CC, and with a bit of rain in the air Ripley won the toss and put the oppo in. Zappy and Lee open up and in no time at all we have them 12 for 4, 2 wickets a piece.

Ripley keep the run rate down up until drinks and then finally take series of wickets in short succession with Chas and James getting in on the act to make it 80 for 8. As the end looked in sight, out of no where there was a shift in tempo with a 9th wicket partnership dragging Chessington up to 171 all out with Liam Bolton taking his first wicket in senior cricket. A good 30-40 runs than we should have been chasing but a decent effort in the field with colts Toby Bolton and Ben Cuthbertson also making their Senior cricket debuts.

The Ripley reply got off to a solid start with Neil and James getting us up to 41 before Neil was triggered by a tight run out decision. James and Tim play some nice shots on an outfield which was not offering much value for your shots. James goes for 42 leaving us at 97-2, before a good partnership between Chas and Tim take us up to 156 looking nearly home and dry and then we lose 3 quick wickets for 11 runs. No harm done though with Lee hitting the winning runs for 4. Great first win Ripley, everyone contributed and big shout out to the 3 colts on debut who were brilliant in the field!
